Modern life asks a lot of us. The work-life balance is commonly a bit off and daily struggles accumulate until one drop makes the barrel overflow. Like so many of us, this is also something I struggled with until a mini-nervous breakdown had me diagnosed with burnout. I finished this series while recovering and readjusting my balance.
Needing to purposefully relax while also doing the things I love, like painting, walking or just sitting on the sofa, I noticed how my art reflected the bursts of energy with calm and more spacious areas.
Energetic marks and vibrant colours stand against large neutral areas of calm to rest the eye. Considered brush strokes complement spontaneous marks.
These paintings are a reflection of my state of mind and invite the viewer to embrace both rest and rejuvenation.
