COMPOSITION FOR INTUITIVE ABSTRACTS

No more chaotic, unresolved paintings.

Bring clarity, flow, and balance to your art with a flexible composition process that helps you paint with confidence—without rigid rules or overthinking.

Jeannine excited for you to paint.jpg

Strong composition doesn’t just change your paintings...
it changes everything.

8.jpg

What if you felt truly proud to share your paintings—not just with friends and family, but with galleries, at art fairs, and out in the world?

What if you had the confidence to sell your work, knowing it wasn’t just good, but great?

What if your paintings felt more valuable—because they weren’t just beautiful, but stronger, more compelling, and impossible to ignore?

Getting composition right doesn’t just improve your paintings—it transforms your entire art practise. It gives you clarity, confidence, and excitement every time you step into the studio.

If you want to learn how to turn a muddled mess into a

compositional masterpiece

IMG_4972_.jpg

You love painting, but sometimes, frustration takes over.

You start with excitement, layering colors and making expressive marks. But at some point, the excitement fades. You lose control of the painting, and you’re not sure how to get it back. It feels chaotic, unbalanced—you don’t know what’s working, what’s missing, or how to bring it all together. So you keep adding layers, hoping it will all come together. Instead, it just gets muddier. More frustrating. More uncertain. You wonder if you’ve ruined it. Again.

And so, it gets added to the pile of “failed” paintings.

You know composition matters,

but every time you try to apply it, it feels rigid—like rules that don’t belong in your intuitive process.

You don’t want to plan everything out in advance. You don’t want to box yourself in. But at the same time, you don’t want to keep getting stuck in that messy middle, unsure how to turn it into a painting you love and feel proud to call finished.

IMG_6681_edited.jpg
3.jpg

What if there was another way?

What if composition wasn’t about strict rules, but a flexible process that actually helped you bring clarity and balance to your paintings—without overthinking, without feeling like you’re fighting against your intuition?

That’s exactly what I want to show you.

If you’ve been painting for a while, chances are

you’ve already tried to solve your composition struggles in different ways.

Maybe you’ve watched YouTube tutorials or studied composition rules—but they feel too rigid, too prescriptive, too disconnected from the way you naturally paint. You want your paintings to feel balanced and cohesive, but composition ‘rules’ make your work feel forced, like you’re trying to fit into a box.

Maybe you’ve tried the opposite approach—just keep painting, and it’ll work itself out. But instead of finding clarity, you feel more stuck. The painting gets heavier, busier, and further from what you envisioned. After all that effort, you’re still left wondering: How do I actually finish this?

Or maybe you’ve been told to just keep trusting your instincts, and the painting will work itself out. But intuition works best with awareness. Without a clear approach, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or abandon paintings that had potential. You don’t have to choose between structure and freedom—composition can feel natural within your process.

14.jpg

You know that in order to create  beautiful abstract paintings
you need a strong composition

IMG_4821_edited.jpg

You could keep going the way you have been

hoping that, eventually, things will fall into place.

But how many more paintings will end up in the “failure” pile?

How much longer will you feel stuck in the messy middle, unsure how to bring your work to a place you love?

The frustration doesn’t just stay in the studio—it drains your confidence and takes the joy out of painting.

Painting should be an escape, a way to express yourself and find flow. But when every session ends in frustration, it’s easy to lose motivation, avoid the studio, and let doubt take over.

With the right process, composition can feel natural, intuitive, and even fun—so you can finally move through the messy middle with ease, refine your work with confidence, and know when a painting is finished.

No more hesitation, no more getting lost in the process.

Now imagine this...

13.jpg

This is exactly what’s possible when you have a simple, flexible approach to composition that works with your intuition—not against it.

And I’d love to show you how.

Who am I?

Hi there! I'm Jeannine,

the woman behind this course, Composition for Intuitive Abstracts.

When I first started painting again and found that I loved creating abstracts, especially intuitively, I could not figure out why some of my paintings were working better than others.

I have a design background, so I already intuitively managed to create fairly pleasing compositions, but it wasn’t until I learned how to consciously apply the principles I knew from the design world to my art, that I repeatedly managed to create paintings I was really proud of and could start selling.

My paintings looked balanced, had clear compositions, and the best thing was that I could not wait to create more and more paintings.

And my work started selling.

Several years later I have refined my method and want to teach you how to achieve striking paintings of your own.

COMPOSITION FOR INTUITIVE ABSTRACTS

Turn your paintings into beautiful works of art with my 5-step Composition Cycle framework

Here's what you get inside

COMPOSITION FOR INTUITIVE ABSTRACTS

CIA mock-up.gif
The key to success:
The Composition Cycle
A framework designed for intuitive abstract painters

Most composition advice isn’t built for intuitive painters. It tells you to follow rigid rules, map out grids, or plan everything before you even pick up a brush. But what if composition wasn’t something that restricted you—but something that guided you, allowing you to paint freely while still creating stunning, well-balanced artwork?

That’s exactly why I created the Composition Cycle—a flexible, repeatable process designed specifically for intuitive abstract painters. Instead of forcing a formula onto your paintings, this framework works with your natural process, helping you refine and strengthen your compositions at any stage.

With the Composition Cycle, you’ll never feel lost in your paintings again. You’ll know exactly how to move forward—without overthinking, without forcing rules, and without losing the joy of painting intuitively.

This is what sets Composition for Intuitive Abstracts apart. It’s not about fitting your art into a box—it’s about giving you a framework that supports your creativity every step of the way.

Let's take a peek inside

Studio Sessions

See the theory in action with painting demonstrations
and create your own mini-series alongside

How will I actually use this method in my own work?

At the end of each module, I’ll take you behind the scenes as I apply what you’ve learned to a small series of paintings. You’ll see exactly how the framework works in practise, from the first intuitive marks to the final, polished pieces.

But that’s not all—because the best way to learn is by doing, I’ll encourage you to create your own series of paintings alongside mine, applying the techniques step by step.

This combination of demonstration and hands-on practise will:

  • Show you how to move through each phase of the framework on real paintings.

  • Help you understand how to troubleshoot common challenges in your own work.

  • Build your confidence by completing an entire series of paintings, not just one-off pieces.

  • Strengthen your ability to repeat the process across future works.

  • Leave you with a series of paintings that reflect your growth and learning.

As this is a brand new course, here’s what some of the 20,000+ viewers of my YouTube videos have to say about my teaching style and process:

You are amazing. I don’t have the courage to go further when I love one work. And if I did, and it is ruined, it is finished for me. I got so discouraged completely. Love your process.
You are so helpful and your style is calm and sweet and funny.
I'm learning a lot from you and gaining confidence with painting. It's starting to sink into my brain why layers are important and how they bring energy to abstracts. Thank you so very much for sharing your process and thoughts.
I have just found you today on YouTube and am LOVING your videos. You are very generous with your expertise and explanations so I just wanted to thank you. I'm a very out of practise ex art student and am just getting back into it and your videos have inspired me greatly.
You are such a brilliant teacher! I’m beginning to change from acrylic pouring techniques, using loads of paint and different media, wanting now to have more control ( and less mess !) tho’ still making abstract paintings. I’m also interested in creating  textures and learning how to incorporate light into my paintings. I think you’ve already taught me lots about both! Thank you
Just wanted to reach out and let you know how much your YouTube videos have inspired and helped me - from layering/ techniques/photographing, you've covered it all! I'm self-taught and as a mom of two have been reconnecting with my creative side.

Obviously there are always people who download all the course materials, watch the lessons, enjoy the content and still ask for their money back. Bad karma. But of course I know you are not one of those!

You have QUESTIONS

I have ANSWERS

How long will it take to complete the course? 6 weeks. There are six modules, and we’ll go through one module a week. Don’t fret if you don’t have time right now though. You’ll have lifetime access, so you can go through everything in your own time. The videos take less than hour to watch each week, and doing the exercises and painting your series is about another 1-2 hours a week, but totally depends on how much time you want to spend painting.

When do I get access? As soon as you purchase you'll get access to the Welcome Module. We officially kick things off on Monday 21st April 2025 with Module

How long do I have access for? How does lifetime access sound? This means you’ll get access through the course platform for as long as I offer the course. If I ever decide to retire it, you’ll be able to download every single bit and use it forever.

What are the benefits for my art practise, what skills will I gain? You will learn how to start a painting intuitively and to then assess the emerging composition. You’ll learn how to fix the composition of your painting to achieve a beautiful painting with confidence time and time again.

I don't want to create aesthetically pleasing compositions. Do I still need to learn about composition? Only once you know the rules you can intentionally break them. Composition is at the heart of every abstract painting, no matter whether you want to make that composition aesthetically pleasing, or deliberately create dissonance within it.

Do I need any prior experience or specific materials to start this course? I recommend you already have some experience painting, but if you don’t, I’m providing an introduction into painting intuitively and you even get access to my Acrylic Quick Start Guide teaching you the basics of acrylic painting. I recommend acrylic paints for this course, simply because the process involves layering. Oil paints take a long time to dry, so layering quickly is difficult. And with watercolour you can’t really cover up previous layers. Other than that, use whatever materials you have on hand in terms of surface (e.g. 300gsm paper), brushes etc.

Do I need to know how to paint with acrylics? Ideally you already have some experience painting with acrylics, but if you haven’t, go through my course Acrylic Quick Start Guide first, which you’ll receive as a bonus for FREE if you enrol in Composition for Intuitive Abstracts.

What is intuitive painting? In a nutshell, intuitive painting is playing with your materials without analysing - at least for part of the process. This intuitive play needs to be balanced with a more analytical approach to achieve a beautiful abstract painting. This is where composition comes in! Analysing and fixing the composition that evolved through intuitive painting is what will turn a messy painting into a masterpiece.

Do I need to know how to paint intuitively? The first module is all about getting you started painting intuitively, but it helps if you’ve dabbled in intuitive painting before.

Will I receive personalised feedback and support? Absolutely! When we are learning new skills it can feel frustrating when we feel like we are shooting in the dark trying to apply the new knowledge. That’s why during the six weeks of the live course you’ll be able to ask any questions that come up and I’ll answer them in a weekly Q&A video. After the six weeks of the live course we’ll switch to monthly Q&A videos, that work in the same way. Apart from these Q&A sessions you’ll get access to a student-only Facebook group community, where you can ask questions and get feedback from your peers.

Is there ongoing support after completing the course? Once the six weeks of the live part has finished there will be monthly Q&A sessions. You’ll be able to ask any questions in advance and I’ll answer them in the Q&A video. Apart from these sessions you’ll get access to a student-only Facebook group community, where you can ask questions and get feedback from your peers.

Do you have a refund policy? You have 30 days to make up your mind, and if you do decide that it’s just not for you, contact me within 30 days of purchase and I’ll give you your money back.

What if composition didn’t have to be difficult?

You know composition is important, but you’re not sure where to start. Don’t worry—I’ve got you. My step-by-step process will show you exactly how to analyse and refine the composition in every painting you create. And the best part? You’ll gain the confidence to do it again and again.

Think the rule of thirds and the golden ratio are boring and restrictive? I couldn’t agree more! This method doesn’t force rigid rules onto your paintings or box in your creativity. Instead, it works with what you’ve already created, helping you bring out the best in your work—without losing the intuitive energy that makes it uniquely yours.

I’ve laid out the steps clearly, so you’ll never feel lost or stuck. You’ll have a simple process to follow, guiding you toward paintings you truly love.

And if you’re excited to join but prefer to spread the cost, there’s a payment plan option that allows you to pay in three monthly installments.

IMG_5999_.jpg

It’s time to

create paintings you truly love

I know how frustrating it is to pour your heart into a painting, only to step back and realise it looks unresolved—messy, chaotic, or just not quite working.

You keep adding layers, hoping for a breakthrough. But without a clear way forward, it’s easy to feel stuck.

2416_detail2.jpg

The good news?

Composition doesn’t have to be restrictive. It’s not about rigid rules—it’s about learning to see your paintings differently so you can make confident decisions without losing your intuitive style.

Once you understand how to work with your intuition, everything changes:

  • Finishing paintings feels exciting instead of frustrating.
  • You know how to strengthen your composition—without overthinking.
  • Your work feels strong, dynamic, and unmistakably yours.

If you’re ready to stop guessing and start painting with clarity, join me inside Composition for Intuitive Abstracts.

Your paintings deserve to be seen

and you deserve to feel confident in every brushstroke.

IMG_4972_.jpg

Still unsure if it's for you?

This course is exactly what you need if…

  • You love painting intuitively and experimenting with materials, but struggle to turn that playful energy into a finished piece.

  • Your paintings sometimes feel chaotic and all over the place, and you’re not sure how to pull them together.

  • You get frustrated when your paintings don’t turn out how you imagined, and you don’t know what to do next.

  • Every now and then, you create something you love—but you have no idea how you got there (and wish you could do it again!).

  • You’d love to feel more confident sharing your work—whether that’s with friends, on social media, or even selling it—but something holds you back.

  • You want a simple, flexible way to improve your compositions without killing the freedom and flow of intuitive painting.
